After scooping two awards at the Berlin Film Festival, receiving six nominations at the upcoming British Independent Film Awards and garnering universal acclaim from the critics, HALLAM FOE will be available to own on DVD from the 4th February 2008.
Director David Mackenzie (Young Adam, Asylum) is back to his best in this cult classic in the making. A beguiling tale of grief, desire, love and loss, the film has already won over a legion of fans in the indie art-house crowd.
Based on the novel by Peter Jinks, Hallam Foe is the story of a tortured tween and social misfit Hallam (Jamie Bell) whose talent for spying on people takes him on a journey that explores his darkest fears, desires and obsessions.
Haunted by the enigma of his mother's death - did she drown herself, or was she murdered? Hallam becomes convinced that his stepmother had a hand in her death. From the treetops of the Scottish highlands to the rooftops of Edinburgh, Hallam watches the world with increasing suspicion, spying on anyone and everyone as he searches for the truth.
It's only after a chance encounter with a woman who looks uncannily like his mother that Hallam finally begins to see the world differently.
Jamie Bell puts in an incredible performance as the troubled Hallam, proving he is one of Britain's best young actors. He leads an equally impressive cast including Ciaràn Hinds (Road to Perdition), Sophia Myles (Mansfield Park) and Claire Forlani (CSI:NY).
The too cool for school soundtrack comes courtesy of indie record label Domino with audio works of art supplied from the likes of Franz Ferdinand, King Creosote and Orange Juice among others.
DVD bonus material includes deleted scenes, podcasts and director commentaries, revealing exclusive insights into the making of this darkly comic masterpiece.
Award wins to date include 'Best Music' and the 'Independent Jury Prize' at the Berlin Film Festival 2007. British Independent Film Awards nominations include 'Best British Independent Film', 'Best Actor' for Jamie Bell, 'Best Director' and 'Best Screenplay'.
HALLAM FOE has also received four nominations at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Scotland for the 'Best Feature Film', 'Best Screenplay', 'Best Actor' for Jamie Bell and 'Best Actress' for Sophia Myles.
